We believe that God is one in essence, but that He exists in three distinct and equal persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - and that these three have precisely the same attributes, nature, and perfection.
We believe that the Bible is God's unique, authoritative revelation to man. We believe that the Scriptures are inspired and that both inspiration and inerrancy extend to every part of the writings as they come from God.
We believe in God as absolute and sole Creator of the universe and that creation was by divine plan, not by evolutionary process.
We believe that man is born in sin, that he needs justification and redemption, and that sin is universal and without excuse.
We believe that God sent Jesus Christ into the world to save sinners, that man is justified before God by placing trust in Jesus Christ as Lord, and there is no way of salvation other than through Jesus Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ is both God and man; that His death was sufficient to redeem anyone who believes in Him; that He rose from the dead bodily; that He ascended to the right hand of God the Father; and that He will return to the earth bodily and visibly.
Each member affirms that he or she loves the Lord, has accepted Him as personal Lord and Savior, has dedicated their life to serving Him, strives to live a life of obedience as defined by God's Word and worships with God's people regularly.
Why a Statement of Faith
All families considering membership in Forsyth Christian Home Educators are asked to sign the above Statement of Faith. We would like to take this opportunity to explain the importantance of the Statement of Faith.
Our purpose states that "FCHE is a Christian group organized for the purpose of providing a place to serve and support one another as we endeavor to educate our children at home to the glory of God."
Throughout history, Christians have recognized the importance of publicly affirming and documenting their beliefs, often to address heresy head-on. That's why we have various confessions and creeds in our Christian literature. The Delaware state constitution required that every legislator "profess faith in God the Father, and in Jesus Christ His only Son, and in the Holy Ghost" and "acknowledge the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be given by divine inspiration". The framers must have known the danger of legislating without unwavering commitment to God's law.
We feel that in order to preserve the Christian foundation upon which Forsyth Christian Home Educators was founded, we must ask that only those members who can wholeheartedly covenant with us as like-minded believers make application to the group. Like Joshua, we are surrounded by unbelievers. We must stand together and say, "as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
