Keepers At Home is a program oriented for girls 7+ years old and their mothers. It was created as an alternative to secular scouting groups. Keepers encourages biblical family values while developing a diversity of skills for feminine Christian womanhood. The meeting begins with a devotional and group building activities. Mothers then take turns leading activities including creative skills, homemaking skills, nature study, sports and other activities. Mothers and their daughters work side by side to teach and learn new skills.
This year we will focus on learning the game of tennis, knitting, sewing, and hairdos. We plan to take a trip to Northside Hospital Premie Ward in the spring to donate some of our sewing projects. Our final meeting is an awards banquet. Badges can be earned for skills they accomplish, Bible reading and memorizing, and character qualities exemplified throughout the year.
We meet every first Tuesday of the month from 2-4 at the First Christian Church on Sawnee Drive in Cumming. Childcare is provided for children up to 12 years of age at the cost of $2.50 per child per month.
The one-time registration fee ($20/girl) covers the supplies needed for the skills the group will learn during the year. You are asked to purchase the badges your daughter earns during the year ($2.50 each) as well as a handbook (approximately $15.00).
